Golf Tee Times in Atlanta, Georgia

Bobby Jones Golf Course - Return To Course Page

Atlanta, GA

Hole #: 01

Par: 5 / Yards: 0

Short par 5: This is a wide fairway, hard to miss. Try to keep your drive in the middle/right side. If you hit a decent tee shot, you will have the option of going for the green in two. It may sound strange to say, but be careful not to go long on your second shot, that is the only real danger. Unless you are teeing off on #2, shots that miss right threaten whoever happens to be there.

Hole #: 02

Par: 4 / Yards: 0

Medium length par 4: Many people are tempted to try to carry the tree that hugs the right side. Don't bother. Aim your tee shot middle/left and even a short drive will leave you a short iron in. A drive too far left might be blocked from certain pin placements by another large tree.

Hole #: 03

Par: 3 / Yards: 0

Med. par 3: No duh, avoid the big creek right in front of the green. Distance is extra important since it's trees and thick bush behind the green. Right is also more trouble. Thus, if you have to miss, try to miss left. There is some room to play from there.

Hole #: 04

Par: 4 / Yards: 0

Short par 4: A tough hole to figure. A long iron is probably the best tee shot, one that will approach the big dip in the fairway without going down it. Then a short to mid iron to this elevated green. If you get too far down on your tee shot, you will have an awkward lie to an uphill green. Avoid going left on your tee shot, it's nothing but trouble there. There is a bunker on the right which you cannot see from the fairway.

Hole #: 05

Par: 4 / Yards: 0

Med. par 4 - You really have to hit a poor drive to get in trouble off the tee. Way left is the street, and that is lots of trouble. Right of the cart path is a hill that will feed onto #4's fairway. That is a tough recovery spot. Otherwise, the approach is pretty simple.

Hole #: 06

Par: 4 / Yards: 0

Short par 4: The creek that runs across the middle of the fairway is more for show than anything, it doesn't really come into play. The tricky part is hitting the ball short enough or far enough to have a flat lie. A bunker guards the front left of the green, trees right, and a creek lie 10 yards behind it.

Hole #: 07

Par: 5 / Yards: 0

Long par 5: Time for a good tee shot. Your drive has to go straight up hill. Then another long iron is needed, and don't miss your second shot left. Right is okay. Your approach goes up another hill, and beware of a bunker to the right of the green.

Atlanta, GA

Hole #: 08

Par: 3 / Yards: 0

Med. par 3: This hole is an easy hole made hard. Don't be short, no telling how far your ball will roll back down the hill. Missing right will put you out of play, left isn't good but it's better than missing right. Take an extra club, the ball will often feed back off the hill behind the green.

Atlanta, GA

Hole #: 09

Par: 4 / Yards: 0

Short par 4: The smart way to play this hole is to hit a long to middle iron at just left of the bunker you see down the fairway. Some folks will try to crush a drive towards the green - which leads to a lot of bogeys and lost balls. From the fairway, this green is easy to hit. Be wary of pin placement, the green slopes back to front.

Atlanta, GA

Hole #: 10

Par: 3 / Yards: 0

Long par 3: Take your tee shot a little left since that is where the most forgiveness is. Don't be long, a creek is back there. The more right you go, the more likely you are to end up in that creek.

Atlanta, GA

Hole #: 11

Par: 4 / Yards: 0

Med. par 4: If you can't hit a long draw, hit a fairway wood or long iron. Going too far straight or even a little right is tragic. Going left is no picnic either. Hitting the fairway is an extreme premium here. It's then a short or middle iron into a open green.

Atlanta, GA

Hole #: 12

Par: 4 / Yards: 0

Short par 4: Another drive that goes straight up a hill. A 3 wood is is plenty of club to hit the middle of this fairway. Don't go right cause the ball will feed away into a group of trees. The green is hidden at the top of the hill but be aware there is a bunker to the right.

Atlanta, GA

Hole #: 13

Par: 3 / Yards: 0

Short par 3: Dangerous driving hole. No, not the hole...driving to it. The hill you go down and the sharp turn left to find the tee is the most perilous journey in Atlanta golf. Otherwise, this hole is easy, easy, easy.

Atlanta, GA

Hole #: 14

Par: 4 / Yards: 0

Med. par 4: Your only real concern here is keeping your tee shot middle/right. Left will block you out from the green.

Atlanta, GA

Hole #: 15

Par: 5 / Yards: 0

Short par 5: Hit a couple of decent shots here, easy birdie. Off the tee, you see a bunker left and a large tree line to the right. Take your drive just right of the bunker with a slight fade, or go down the tree line with a slight draw. Any decent drive that lands you middle right of the fairway is hunky-dory, but caution: too far right, is o.b. You want to come into the green from the right side, due to a large tree on the left side. Many golfers can reach in two, and even if you can't, you should be real close to the green.

Atlanta, GA

Hole #: 16

Par: 4 / Yards: 0

Med. par 4: Easy hole here. Wide open fairway, hit your driver. Green is bunkered on all sides, so your approach has to be precise.

Bobby Jones Golf Course - Return To Course Page

Atlanta, GA

Hole #: 17

Par: 4 / Yards: 0

Med. par 4: This tee shot is through a tight chute and is also restricted by a lake about 200 yards away. A long iron should put you into the landing area. Then you have an approach that has to deal with a carry over water, a bunker in front of and behind the green, and a creek behind the far bunker. This was not the original design of the hole and it's apparent. Play safe, the bailout on the approach is right.

Bobby Jones Golf Course - Return To Course Page

Atlanta, GA

Hole #: 18

Par: 4 / Yards: 0

Med. par 4; Slicers beware, anything that goes right of the tee is lost. The creek is unforgiving. You have to hit your tee shot at least 215 yards to clear the trees and have an open shot to the green. After that, the farther you go makes no difference. This hole doglegs ninety degrees to the right. Your approach can miss short or right and be okay. The green does have big undulations that slope back to front.
